Based in New York State, Greg Gerkens is an educator and school administrator who most recently served as assistant principal for an educational cooperative of 51 Long Island school districts established to provide educational leadership and other support through shared services and instructional programs. In this position, Greg Gerkens served one high school that serviced special education students with acute behavioral management needs. He was in this position from July 2013 to August 2016.
Previously, Greg Gerkens worked as a special education science teacher for the Wyandanch Union Free School District, where he also functioned as an athletic event supervisor, leadership team member, and Saturday Academy Credit Recovery Coordinator. He also was a special education teacher with Sachem Middle School for one year and with the Sachem High School for two years.
Gerkens attended St. Joseph’s College, where he earned a BA in elementary education and special education. He later completed his MS in literacy education at Long Island University.
