Duane Wardell

Duane Wardell, a long-time information technology professional with extensive experience in INGRES and Oracle database administration, most recently served as a certified consultant database programmer and analyst for the information systems division of the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System (MHHS). In this capacity, Mr. Wardell managed several application databases from such third-party packagers as RESQ, Physmark, and CARE4. He was also responsible for leading and supporting major database administrator (DBA) activities, developing database processes, and teaching SQL-tuning classes to MHHS analysts. Duane Wardell started this position in 2006, after a five-year tenure as MHHS’ lead database programmer and analyst.

Mr. Wardell prepared for his career by earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Wayne State University. He completed versions six and seven of the Oracle Master course in database administration and is an Oracle Certified Professional. Additionally, he holds the Oracle7 Database Administrator Certification from the Chauncey Group International.

Duane Wardell began his career as a system support representative for Unisys Corporation and later held such positions as Caterpillar development support database administrator, relational DBA for Electronic Data Systems, and senior Oracle DBA for Hermann Hospital. In these positions, he gained valuable experience in everything from performance tuning to DBA architecture.
